Kummooyeh was founded based on the martial arts created by Grandmaster Ilseong Bouk Soo Joung. It began in 1996 with the social organization 'Daehan Dobup Geomdo Association', transcending schools and factions to spread the culture of the sword. The association has been actively involved in various competitions and seminars. Later, with the proliferation of similar organizations, it emphasized its uniqueness in using twin swords and was renamed 'Daehan Idoryu Geomdo Association'. However, in 2009, with the proposal of Traditional Martial Arts Promotion Act, it was deemed necessary to transform into an independent sword training organization that could represent Korea. Since then, it has been known as the 'World Kummooyeh Federation', and in 2015 it was officially made a change in registration to become World Kummooyeh Federation Corporation and first promoted abroad.

The components of Kummooyeh are divided into Geombeop(forms), Gyeokbeop (sparring), Sebeop(cutting), and Geommu(dance). The techniques of the sword include various methods such as using both hands, changing hands, reverse two-hand, double reverse, single hand, reverse single hand, and twin swords. It is a martial art that trains the mind and spirit, systematizing and scientifically compiling the sword techniques that were discontinued after Joseon Dynasty to widely spread and promote the culture of the sword.
The curriculum includes Deungpae, Woldo, and archery, making it an easy, fun, splendid, and practical martial art for self-defense.

World Kummooyeh Federation is committed to extensively promoting our precious sword culture, which our ancestors left us, through extensive research and re-enactment. We strive to develop it into a splendid sword culture imbued with soul and spirit, and widely share it with the global community. We focus on youth character education, aiming to contribute to the nation and the global society.
